Good job Valve. This is correct.

Valve once again shows that they are thinking way ahead of everybody else in the industry. This is going to open up a huge new share of potential consumers, literally millions of people who weren't able to play their games can do so now. Blizzard is one of the only long-running companies to ever develop games that are PC and Mac compatible and I think the success of WoW shows how well that ended up turning out in the long run. This can only be a good move for Valve. I'm also happy because now I can get rid of the XP partition on my laptop and play Valve games natively. Not that I really need to anymore but it would still be nice to free up that 30GB that I have only kept as a backup in case something goes wrong with my desktop.

Might start taking my laptop to LANs when this is released, just for convenience sake.

Yeah, this is a huge change for the media industry as a whole for content providers. People want their content on more than just 1 device and consumers are demanding these providers to cater to them. We this with Blu-rays doubling as DVDs. DVDs and Blu-rays coming with digital downloads for other devices. Netflix streaming to just about anything with internet. Media players streaming to devices with video and music.

I still remember the day when the music/movie industry insisted on you buying a copy for every device. That's not flying so well anymore.

Unfortunately, there are still a lot of game publishers, movie studios and record labels that are not falling in line. We'll see where they end up.
