So, what is the estimated time of building this thing? When do we want it up and running? Also, are we sure we have all the parts?

So we need a hard drive and a processor, correct?

Probably 1TB hard drive and a Core 2 duo?

what about one of these for the processor depending on funds.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz - $190
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz - $165
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Wolfdale 2.66GHz -$120

and one of these for hard drive?
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB - $130
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31000333AS 1TB - $110

That would bring max price to $320 and min to $230

I would rule out the Q8200 because it only has 4MB of L2 Cache and the extra cores would not benefit from the lost on-chip storage, but the other two look good. I would think either HDD would work, it just depends on how much you guys want to spend. Thanks for the thoughtful post.

I think we can go with the 1.5 TB and the 3.0 GHz wolfdale. But I think any combination will be alright.
