North Korea

North Korea has launched a rocket today to send a satellite into orbit, and people are worried that they are trying to push their nuclear launch capabilities. The rocket never entered orbit and crashed in the Sea of Japan.
Is this something we should be worried about or are we just putting a spin on it because we're America and we don't like North Korea?

A communist country with documented hatred toward the United States and its allies is capable of launching scud-like missiles armed with nuclear warheads. Umm...yes. We should be worried.

North Korea is mostly harmless. They don't have a lot of real power. China is much more of a threat when it comes down to it.
I saw this piece on 60 Minutes a few years ago where they interviewed North Korean schoolchildren. The things they'd say were just unbelievable. The students are fed the most ridiculous propaganda imaginable from an early age. They would go on and on about how America was an evil country that's goal was to exterminate other countries, and that they have secret concentration camps all over the states where people are tortured and murdered. The teachers would even "correct" the students if they'd say somewhat decent things about America. It was bizarre.
They are also 172nd out of 173 countries in order of , and are one of the most unfree countries on the planet.

I would like to play naive here and say that, ya they were only trying to launch a satellite into space and who are we to say that they shouldn't be allowed to work on their rocket abilities to deliver such a payload. But it seems as though everyone has a hidden agenda and it seems as though North Korea could be developing a delivery system for nukes.
I agree with Bodknocks that they aren't a very big threat right now but if they keep developing abilities they will be a threat in the future which is what Scott was saying.

A missile defense system is a lot different than testing long range missiles for payload delivery and accuracy.

yes but defense missiles are not much different from offensive missiles. could easily be used against other places plus it shows how the middle east will always be a mess now that people are getting missiles like that to protect themselves.
