It lines up pretty well, but perhaps they are being too critical of these movies. They are all old (same era), sketch-based (time consuming) and cartoons(for kids that don't care) and there are not that many movies actually compared with relation to the number in Disney's library.

Also, at the end, they are comparing Waltzing, which isn't really that different among varieties, so not sure it bears comparison.

What do you guys think? Is this video being critical? Or is it perhaps just pointing out the interesting fact that they found?

I don't think it's being critical, just pointing things out. The first ones are, like you said, really old and it's a time consuming process so it's obvious why they'd do that. I also think it's pretty obvious that the waltzing in Beauty in the Beast is an homage to Sleeping Beauty.

This is just them using the same live action sequences for . Pretty much every animation studio uses this technique if they have to create a lot of similar content.

By calling the video "Disney Templates", at first to me, it had a negative connotation, but I can see now how they might be pointing out the rotoscoping technique they used. Although, it is College Humor, so I am not sure there agenda is to point out art and animation techniques, but perhaps just to show the lighter side of it.
