So, the CEO of Activision is to blame. From several statements he has made in recent weeks, it seems he really just doesn't like gamers or the PC and he just wants lots and lots of money and scares his developers into making games that can make money ONLY. He will only allow $100 million franchises, so these are games with sequels and download-able content. Like Guitar Hero and Call of Duty.

He seems to have nothing to worry about because gamers are too unorganized to boycott and want the content and they are willing to pay more for it.
