Steam Question

Hey my brother installed windows 7 on his extra hard drive and wants to install far cry on it. However, the internet connection is extremely slow so redownloading is not an option. He already has all the files on his other drive, so is it possible to copy all the files over and then have steam recognize them?
In short, how do you have steam recognize a game where all the files are already there? Will it just recognize when you tell it to install the game and it will automatically go to 100%?

Not sure, I would have Steam "think" its installing and create the directories, then close Steam. Copy the files over, then re-open Steam and see what it wants to do. There may still be some files to download, but perhaps not all of them. I asked Jared and Blake and we are not completely sure.

I think that would work. You might want to delete Steam's blob file after you move the folder over.

Yeah that was also my guess and what I initially told him to do, reKon also said this would work and he has done it before.
Thanks for the help.

I bet Steam goes all gay, and will not recognize them. But, I hope it does and works out smoothly for him.
